The most important functions of a firewall are Intrusion Prevention (IPS) and Filtering, with the overall goal being to keep bad actors out of your network and off your computers. Firewalls utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help them identify what activity is expected and permitted.  Filtering monitors activity outbound as well as inbound to ensure that users inside the network don’t accidentally allow a bad actor in by clicking on a bad link and installing a malicious trojan.

• Using an “out-of-the-box” consumer grade modem or router provided by your internet provider or purchased from a store
• Uncertain if there is a firewall or what protections are in place
